Pain Management

We utilize many years of clinical experience to design individualized treatment programs that emphasize therapeutic exercises with the goal of returning each patient to their highest attainable level of function. We provide elite-level sports performance and injury prevention using the same multi-disciplinary, evidence-based approach that professional athletes use.

The Fitness and Development Training program is designed to follow best practices for long-term athletic development. All our sessions incorporate general motor skills development, speed, agility, and strength. We train in a structured (but fun!) manner that ensures athletes of all ages are prepared to handle the physical challenges of training in a competitive sport.

Our clinicians employ various biomechanical devices to guide personalized rehabilitation programs for individuals with different injuries and conditions. Your physical therapist will analyze your posture using software applications and translate this information into an action plan for alleviating your pain.

We use Biodex Balance System SD to identified postural sway by using markers to assess the presence of a concussion and monitoring return to activity progression. The system also serves as a valuable training device to enhance athletic ability and help compensate for impaired proprioceptive reflex mechanisms following injury.

A basic strength test will be performed during your physical evaluation that will help measure your flexibility, gait, range of motion, balance, coordination, and mobility. These initial results would help your physical therapists track your progress during rehab.

The Dynamic Movement Analysis screens and assess posture, alignment, range of motion, strength, and balance. It allows us to identify limitations or asymmetries with movement patterns that are key to the quality of movement in individuals who have no complaints of pain and/or any known injury. Based on the results of the screening and individualize program would be developed by your physical therapist to address the nature of your deficits. Some athletes will require mobility and flexibility training and/or sports injury rehabilitation and conditioning while others will need to address stability and motor control disorders/dysfunction.

Don’t forget the most significant risk an athlete faces after recovery is returning to their sport too soon after an injury. It is important not to push yourself to play through pain. At ValePT, our sports rehabilitation specialists have the knowledge and experience to clear an athlete for a safe return to the game or activity.
